Freddie Solomon Community Spirit Award
For those who don’t know, the Freddie Solomon Community Spirit Award is presented to candidates who, apart from demonstrating excellent performance in the game, have contributed to the welfare of the community as well. This award is presented in honor of Freddie Solomon, who dedicated two decades of his life to the youths of Tampa Bay.
Tre Tipton: Freddie Solomon Community Spirit Award 2019
Like every year, different colleges and universities submitted candidates for the award. This year, the nominees were:

- Tre Tipton
- Brenden Knox
- Bryce Torneden
- Spencer Eason-Riddle
Tre Tipton distinguished himself off the field with a passionate commitment to helping others; thus, he was awarded the award this year. A three-year letterman at receiver, Tipton created Living Out Victoriously Everyday (LOVE) program that facilitates the development of a community for collegiate student-athletes dealing with mental, psychological, and physical struggles.
Tripton, in a phase of his life, has dealt with such challenges as well and was inspired by his struggles to ensure no member of the Pitt Athletics community faces similar adversities. Tipton also served as a volunteer at Waypoint Youth and Community Center and promoted the importance of education and reading at schools.
What message does Freddie Solomon Community Spirit Award send?
This award encourages more and more people to contribute to the community and help those in need. Excellent and achievement in sports is good, but when it integrates with serving for the welfare of the community, it stands out. Every year, many beautiful souls give their part to the people in need to ensure they overcome the obstacles and disadvantages, and get a chance to express themselves on a significant stage. The help can be of any type or size, but it has to be voluntary and selfless.
It can be as small as opening a non-profit school for training disadvantaged kids or as significant as dedicating two decades of your life for the welfare of the youths. Premier Players, being the leading ambassador of sports, ensures these efforts are identified, appreciated, and awarded. Thus, the Freddie Solomon Community Spirit Award was started as an initiative to celebrate the selfless contributions of people to the community.
