The Premier Player Sports Foundation bestows the player of the season award to the best athlete – its an award recognizing top athletes from Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and Hernando counties. The past winners of the Premier Sports Award from the year 2010 till 2018 are Ryan Mallett, Case Keenum, Jarvis Jones, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Vernon Hargreaves III, Deshaun Watson, Jake Fromm, and Kyler Murray respectively.
Every year, the polls are launched at the beginning of the college sports season with 20 of the best players. In mid-October to early November, up to the top five best performing players are added to the poll while nonperformers get eliminated from the polling contest. Fans can vote the Premier Player of the season until the last conference championship game. The first poll of 20 top athletes from the area was launched on November 1st, 2014, for fans to select the recipients of the award.
